Working with director Zoya Akhtar was on wish list Ranveer Singh long as the actor feels is unmatched when it comes to urban tell stories on the big screen.
The actor plays a rich son, but rebel Kabir Mehra in “Dil Dhadakne Do”, which is a dysfunctional family on a cruise.
“I loved the script. I Reema (Kagti) and Zoya are one of the best combinations of writing in Bollywood. I have always admired the work of Zoya and wanted to work with her. Nobody urban stories like Zoya. They are very well written and very detailed about human relationships, “Ranveer told PTI in an interview.
The brilliant ensemble drama starring Ranveer, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma and Rahul Bose, hits theaters on June 5.
Ranveer said it was great from the director of “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” to get a deal like “Dil Dhadakne Do”, because not many players like being part of an ensemble piece.
“Everyone is usually in films alone but Zoya has started a great cast. I have a great deal to me. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’ve never played urban characters before that. I hope this film helps me explore my versatility even more, “the 29-year-old actor said.
“Zoya has explored the peculiarities and wonderfully dysfunctional. It is black humor, but the film is fun and there are good dose of romance too. Yes, looks very bright, because the protagonists are supposedly rich people. They are the rich who undergo a crisis, “he added.
